The aorta is the main artery through which the heart delivers blood to the body. The abdominal aorta is a section of aorta from the diaphragm to the aorta’s termination into the two iliac arteries. An aneurysm is a dilation or enlargement of a vessel usually defined as twice the diameter of the normal vessel. The section of aorta most prone to development of aneurysmal disease is the abdominal aorta.
The Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is at risk to burst and has a high mortality rate if it is allowed to rupture.

The AneuRx stented endograft is a minimally invasive way to treat an abdominal aortic aneurysm in high risk patients that have favorable anatomy for the procedure. Dr. Pecoraro, working with Dr. Sedillo was the first surgeon in Manatee County to insert this device.
Dr. Pecoraro also performs AAA repair by traditional methods in patients who are not candidates for the AneuRx stented endograft.
